SMS Email Gateway
SMS Email Gateway is a software product, which allows
email messages to be sent to SMS recipients and allows
them to reply via SMS.
SMS Email Gateway software accepts a SMPT messages and
also sends these messages to SMS recipients. The SMS
Email Gateway allows the users to send new messages and
allows replying to a message received via gateway. While
sending a new message from SMS to an internet email
recipient, one compulsion to receive messages is, the
beginning text of the SMS messages should be an email
address. SMS replies to an email address depending upon
configuration of the gateway.

If more than 20 phone numbers are allocated to the SMS
Email Gateway, it uses different sender phone number
each time. SMS Email Gateway also routes messages to an
SMS recipient. Based on the phone number to which user
need to reply, the message is routed to the appropriate
internet email address that generated the message being
replied to.
If only a single phone number is given to the SMS Email
Gateway, then it includes code number with each message
routed to an SMS recipient. It is compulsory for a user
to include this code number as a first text while
replying to the message. SMS Email Gateway requires an
SMPP connection to Short message service center, having
the capability to send and receive messages. SMS Email
Gateway can also be used as an SMPP server that allows
using SMS Email Gateways in conjunction with GSM modems
or other types of SMSCs.

SMS messages, which are using SMPP protocol connections
to an SMSC, are sending and received by SMS Email
Gateway. Generally, SMS Email Gateways supports v3.3 and
v3.4 SMPP versions. Only after receiving commands,
requests, SMS Email Gateway sends a new message to a new
email address. If there is any reply to the message from
SMS user, SMS Email Gateway finds to which of the
gateway phone numbers the message was sent. It very well
knows what email recipient to direct the reply, and this
is based on the last message sent via that particular
sender address. From standard email accounts, one can
send and receive SMS messages. To support this, SMS
Email Gateway provides message format conversions
between SMS and SMTP.
Several messages are via SMS, in response to user
commands, or error situations. It is possible to
supersede the default text of these messages by creating
one or more of the following files in the gateway
installation directory.
Welcome.MSG: Welcome.MSG is sent to new users, when
registration is done via SMS using the auto-register
function.
Error.MSG: When the SMS Email Gateway does not
understand the format of received message, this message
is sent. One error message is binary message.
NotRegisterd.MSG: This message is sent when a user
receives an undefined request. Auto register is not
permitted, nor can the excess accounts be registered due
to licensing restrictions.
Apart from the mentioned files, many others exist for
the error situations.
